Happy Birthday Big Satsuma Radio!

Big Satsuma Radio is celebrating it's first year of broadcasting on Monday 29th May. The UK based independent radio station has quickly established itself as the go-to resource for the best emerging, independent, alternative, electronic and new wave music around. Station bosses Bridget, Kurt and Stuart have certainly enjoyed the rollercoaster adventure so far, and are looking forward to what the future holds.

Big Satsuma was born from the core management trio being utterly disillusioned by the antics and ethics of the previous radio station that hosted their shows and decided the time was right to break out and do things differently, for the benefit of the independent artists and listeners too.

Kurt commented " Bridget and I had discussed starting our own station one day, but it was only when our previous station went into self-destruct mode (and the independent musicians and listeners it was there to serve were disrespected and taken advantage of) that we decided enough was enough and we wanted a change. Stuart was feeling the same way and leapt at the chance of starting a new radio station. Most of the other presenters followed tvery quickly, and soon we were being approached by other DJs who could see what we were tring to achieve and liked the concept. It's very simple really, everyone at Big Satsuma Radio loves music, and the station is all about providing a platform for emerging, independent and alternative artists to get their music heard alongside major artists, with radio play, interviews, features, health awareness and comedy programmes, Big Satsuma is growing and morphing into a really lovely creative hub reflecting the best new artists around."
